Companionship Care at Home in Wakefield and Surrounding Areas
Our companionship service is exclusively tailored to provide a social connection for you or your loved one. It offers a trustworthy, friendly face who you can engage with socially as well as share your interests with. The goal is to maintain and/or enhance the quality of your life.
At Academy Care, we work with you and your loved ones (including any relevant others, such as other healthcare professionals involved in your care) to deliver a service that is perfectly tailored to your needs. For many families, the knowledge that a caring professional will drop in on their loved one for a cup of tea, a chat and some company, can offer much-needed peace of mind.
Our carers are trained to support and encourage you or your loved one’s mental stimulation, as well as maintain social connections by enabling and engaging in:
Sharing a meal, attending social events, theatre, cinema etc.
Everyday activities around the home
Social activities within their community, including visits with family and friends
Participating in hobbies and crafts
Shopping and day trips
Reminiscing about past events and discussing current events
What can be included in your Companionship Service?
Meal Preparation
An important aspect of our duty of care is to encourage a balanced diet for our clients as well as to ensure recommended hydration levels are maintained. We can prepare hot and cold meals to your preference and taste, with client participation encouraged according to their ability.
Shopping and Errands
We can shop for groceries as per your preferences, pick up prescriptions or complete other required errands. Staff will account for all spends with receipts and clients are always encouraged to get involved as much as their ability allows them to.
Light Housekeeping
Our staff are encouraged - time permitting - to incorporate light household chores for general upkeep during their visit. This includes laundry, ironing, and tidying. However, it excludes any activity that requires the use of ladders and any outdoor cleaning or maintenance. Please get in touch and we’ll be delighted to explain our housekeeping services in further detail.
Medication Reminder
An important aspect in our duty of care is to ensure that clients take their medication as prescribed. Please refer to our medication policy for full details.
Occasional Transport
It is important that we encourage our clients to get out and about in pursuit of their interests and quality of life. To this end, our carers can provide supplementary transportation when and if required; for example, to attend appointments and other social events. Wheelchair Access Vehicles can also be provided.
Dressing Guidance
Where required, our carers can assist you with dressing and looking presentable for any event, outing or occasion.
